Welcome to SWiNG at UIUC's Siebel Center for Computer Science! We conduct research in the design, implementation, and evaluation of wireless systems, networking, and applications. SWiNG's research areas include wireless Internet access, self-learning wireless protocols, self-organized wireless systems, scalable wireless mesh, reliable wireless networks, and future embedded networks.

September 2006: Michael Ford and Bejamin Olsen won the ACM Undergraduate Student Research Competition at MobiCom 2006 with the presentation titled "Implementation of a Spectrum Agile MAC Protocol with Software-defined Radio".

Haiyun Luo presented "The PERM Project and the Future of Mobile Broadband Internet Access" at the August meeting of CUWiN Hack Night.

July 2006: RAIN is accepted for publication at IEEE ICNP 2006, the premier network protocol design conference.

July 2006: Michael Ford was ranked 4th in the 12th Annual SAEOPP/UTK McNair National Scholars Research Conference with his poster presentation titled "Implementation of CSMA/CA with GNURadio".

June 2006: Chun-cheng Chen is awarded 2006-2007 Vodafone Fellowship.

June 2006: Seda is accepted for publication at ACM SenSys 2006, the premier sensor systems conference.

May 2006: Project PERM hit more than 40 national and international technical news media, including Network World, PC World, and Tech News World. It also appeared on the first page of May 22 News-Gazette, and reported by several UIUC websites including UIUC News Bureau, College of Engineering, and Dept. of Computer Science.
